South County Repeater is Now Operational!
Submitted by n6ly on Wed, 04/30/2008 - 02:51.After several months of planning, equipment acquisition and construction, our South County Repeater is now in service. Located at Bear Valley near the Pinnacles National Monument, this repeater helps fill in the missing gaps of radio coverage for southern San Benito County.
The frequency is 146.625 (-) with a PL of 94.8 . This repeater provides coverage along Highway 25 from Tres Pinos south to Bitterwater Valley. Our next project will be to link this repeater with our 147.315 machine so that we’ll have continuous coverage from the northern to the southwestern part of our County.

San Benito County ARES Site move almost complete!
Submitted by n6ly on Mon, 02/25/2008 - 23:13.As you may have noticed, we have once again (hopefully for the last time) changed the address of the San Benito County ARES group website.
If you are reading this, you are likely already aware of the new address: http://www.sbcares.org
Over the next few weeks, our mailing list will be restored to working order and our old domains "sbcards.net and sbcards.org" 'should' automatically point you to this new site. All other migration of data and content to our new home online has been completed.
Work Started On South County Repeater Site
Submitted by sbcaresadmin on Mon, 01/28/2008 - 09:38.Work has begun on preparing the site for the south county repeater. This repeater will help extend our coverage south of Paicines along Highway 25. This will be a VHF repeater located on a high ridge top in the Bear Valley area near the Pinnacles National Monument.
The first order of business is to construct a pig and cattle proof fence to protect the radio equipment. The fence is almost done and the next phase of work will be to pour a concrete foundation for the cabinet and the antenna tower. Check back soon for more pictures of the progress.
